Worcester Man Sentenced To Twenty Years For Selling Cocaine
BOSTON, MA. - A Worcester man was sentenced today in federal court for conspiring to distribute multiple kilograms of cocaine.
Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Boston Field Office and United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz announced that Eric Gonzalez, 35, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor, IV to 20 years in prison to be followed by 10 years of supervised release after a federal jury convicted him in July 2011 of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
In October 2007, Gonzalez conspired with three other men to distribute five kilograms of cocaine. On the day of his arrest, Gonzalez contacted one of his co-defendants to coordinate the details surrounding the delivery of multiple kilograms of cocaine to an apartment on Coral Street in Worcester. When the cocaine was delivered, Gonzalez and his co-defendants were arrested, and a total of four kilograms of cocaine was (three from the apartment and one from a nearby automobile), as well as $59,000 in cash.
The case was investigated by the DEA Worcester, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
