PORTLAND, ME. - Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England and United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that on May 25th, a federal jury found Wolker Georges - , 29 of Portland, Maine, guilty of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine.

According to the evidence introduced at trial, from about September 2008 through October 2008, Georges - regularly supplied multiple ounces of cocaine to two other coconspirators in Maine.

The joint investigation into Georges - , which was headed by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, culminated in the execution of a search warrant at Georges’ - apartment in Portland - where he lived with one of the coconspirators. This search resulted in the recovery of, among other things, a quantity of cocaine with a street value of $25,000, digital scales, $30,390 in U.S. currency, two handguns and ammunition. Georges - faces a possible sentence of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000. He will be sentenced after completion of a pre-sentence investigation report by the United States Probation Office. He will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentence.

United States Attorney Delahanty said that the success of this case is based on the cooperative investigative efforts of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Portland Police Department.
