North Charleston Man Sentenced To 20 Years On Federal Drug, Weapons Charges
(COLUMBIA, S.C - .) -United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated today that Sean Doctor, age 30, of North Charleston, South Carolina was sentenced in federal court in Charleston, South Carolina, for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine, possession of a weapon with a convicted felon and possession of a weapon in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. United States District Judge C. Weston Houck of Charleston sentenced Doctor to 20 years imprisonment, to be followed by eight years supervised release. Doctor's prior record included multiple drug convictions.
Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that on April 11, 2012, Doctor led North Charleston Police on a chase after they attempted to initiate a traffic stop before eventually stopping and being apprehended in Goose Creek. During the chase, Doctor threw a loaded 9 mm handgun, along with a bag containing approximately 270 grams of cocaine and 136 grams of crack cocaine, from his vehicle.
The case was investigated by agents of the Drug Enforcement (DEA) and North Charleston Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Nick Bianchi of the Charleston office prosecuted the case.
