Crack Dealer Sentenced
COLUMBUS, GA. - The United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, Michael J. Moore, announced today that Robert Woods, age 38, of Auburn, Alabama, was sentenced before the Honorable Clay D. Land, United States District Judge.
Woods pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine base in an amount more than 50 grams, in violation of Title 21 United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) (b)(1)(A)(iii). Woods was sentenced to 322 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
At the time of his arrest, Woods was in possession of approximately 285 grams of crack cocaine and $81,000 in cash. He was also on federal supervised release for a separate offense of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
“Getting drug dealers off the street remains a priority of my office. We will spare no effort when it comes to helping people like Woods relocate from the Middle District of Georgia to the federal prison system,” Moore said.
The case was investigated by agents with the Columbus Drug Enforcement (DEA) and Metro Narcotics Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Melvin E. Hyde, Jr. prosecuted the case.
