Practitioner Diversion Awareness Conference

Marzo 16, 2020 04:00 am - Marzo 17, 2020 01:00 pm

Fitzgerald Ballroom

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be hosting two regional one-day Practitioner Diversion Awareness Conferences (PDAC) on Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  The same conference will be held both days.  Participants can attend either day. The conferences will be held at the Sheraton Baltimore North, 903 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson, Maryland 21204.

The diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances throughout the United States is a growing problem.  This diversion stems from various sources.  In addition to pharmacy robberies and thefts, pharmaceutical controlled substances are often diverted by way of forged prescriptions, doctor shoppers, or illegitimate prescriptions from rogue practitioners.  The PDAC is designed to assist DEA registered Practitioners (e.g. doctors, veterinarians, dentists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners) in identifying and preventing diversion activity.

There is no registration fee for these conferences.  However, attendees will be responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and meal expenses.  Information about nearby restaurants will be provided at the conference.

If you wish to reserve a room at the hotel, you can call the hotel directly at (410) 321-7400.

The closet airport is the Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), which is 25 miles from the hotel.  The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service within 5 miles.  Alternate options: Uber/Lyft, and/or Taxi is also available.  Self-parking is &12 per day.  Valet parking is not available.

Each one-day conference will be held in the Fitzgerald Ballroom, located on the first floor, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.  You must check in with DEA personnel before the start of the conference.  Conference check-in will be from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. each day outside of the ballroom.

NOTE:  You must be a DEA registered Practitioner (e.g. doctor, veterinarian, dentist, physician assistant, and/or nurse practitioner) in the state of Maryland in order to attend this conference.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint provision of the Federation of State Medical Boards and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.  The Federation of State Medical Boards is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Federation of State Medical Boards designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Seating is limited at these conferences and it is recommended you register as early as possible.
