FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two Northwest Arkansas men were sentenced to serve a total of 246 months combined in federal prison for drug trafficking and ammunition related crimes.  Tony Bonds Jr., age 25, was sentenced on September 28, 2026, to serve a total of 150 months in federal prison for using a communication device to facilitate the distribution of Fentanyl and for being a felon in possession of ammunition.  Jared Haynie, age 30, his co-defendant, was sentenced on August 27, 2026, to serve 96 months in federal prison for using a communication device to facilitate conspiracy to distribute Adderall and conspiracy to distribute Fentanyl.    Both men were linked to a Fentanyl overdose death that occurred in Farmington, Arkansas in 2022.  The Honorable Chief Judge Timothy L. Brooks presided over the sentencing hearing in the United States District Court in Fayetteville.

According to court documents, officers with the Farmington Police Department responded to a Fentanyl overdose resulting in death in the morning hours of June 18, 2022. The ensuing investigation linked both Bonds and Haynie to the deceased. Phone records, interviews and other evidence revealed that both Bonds and Haynie used their cellular phones to commit drug trafficking crimes.  Additionally, Bonds unlawfully possessed multiple rounds of .9mm ammunition while on felony state probation in multiple cases.

United States Attorney Kevin R. Holmes of the Western District of Arkansas made the announcement. The Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, State of Arkansas Probation and Parole, Drug Enforcement Administration, Washington County Coroner’s Office, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Kimberly D. Harris prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
