HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – A Hot Springs man was sentenced on October 1, 2026, to more than 14 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release, for Possession with the Intent to Distribute of More Than 50 Grams of Methamphetamine. The Honorable District Judge John Thomas Shepherd presided over the sentencing hearings, which took place in the United States District Court in Hot Springs.

According to court records, in June of 2025, investigators received information the LaMont Green, age 55, was distributing methamphetamine in the Hot Springs area.  A records check determined that Green was on parole from the Arkansas Department of Correction for a previous felony conviction.  Investigators conducted a search of Green’s residence and located approximately 2.1 kilograms of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine, along with digital scales and other items commonly associated with drug distribution.  The suspected methamphetamine was tested at the Drug Enforcement Administration Laboratory and confirmed to be 1.4 kilograms of pure methamphetamine. On February 18, 2026, Green pleaded guilty to Possession with the Intent to Distribute of More Than 50 Grams of Methamphetamine.

United States Attorney Kevin R. Holmes made the announcement. The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hot Springs Police Department investigated the case.  The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the 18th East Judicial District also assisted with the prosecution and investigation of this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Bryan A. Achorn prosecuted the case for the United States.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the U.S. Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
