LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two Richmond, Ky., residents, Destiny Burns, 24, and Aaron Whittamore, 33, were sentenced to 11 years and 12 years in prison, respectively, on Monday, October 5, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Chad Meredith for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Beginning in June 2025, law enforcement used a confidential informant to conduct a series of controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Burns. The investigation culminated in a traffic stop of Burns and Whittamore on August 22, 2025, after law enforcement observed Whittamore entering Burns’s vehicle carrying multiple bags. During the traffic stop, officers located multiple gallon- sized Ziplock bags containing a total of approximately 2,035 grams of methamphetamine, along with $1,109 in U.S. currency. As part of their individual plea agreements, Burns and Whittamore each admitted to engaging in a conspiracy to and possessing with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Jason Parman, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Jim Scott, Special Agent in Charge, DEA, Louisville Field Division; Phillip J. Burnett, Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police; Chief Rodney Richardson, Richmond Police Department; and Sheriff Mike Coyle, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, jointly announced the sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA, KSP, Richmond Police Department, and Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Paco Villalobos prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
