Building on the Momentum from the Texas Motor Speedway, the No. 99 Fentanyl Free America Chevrolet will Bring Lifesaving Awareness to Two Additional NASCAR Races

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Viking Motorsports are taking the Fentanyl Free America message to two additional NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series races this season, using the reach of motorsports to promote fentanyl prevention, raise awareness, and help save lives.  Today’s announcement coincides with National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, a national observance which honors and remembers the lives lost to fentanyl poisonings.

The No. 99 Fentanyl Free America Chevrolet – driven by Parker Retzlaff – will race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, August 28, 2026, and at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 10, 2026.

This unique collaboration underscores DEA’s commitment to reach Americans where they are – at the heart of communities, families, and the events they love – with urgent, life-saving information about the dangers of fentanyl. Synthetic opioid deaths, which include fentanyl, declined by more than 10,000 deaths from 2024 to 2025.

DEA and Viking Motorsports joined forces at the Andy’s Frozen Custard 340 at Texas Motor Speedway on May 2, 2026, marking the first time the Fentanyl Free America initiative had ever partnered with a NASCAR team. Based on the success of the May 2 event, DEA expanded this collaboration to two of NASCAR’s most iconic venues.

“The response we saw in Texas proved what we already believed: NASCAR fans are passionate, engaged, and ready to stand up for their communities. Continuing this work at Daytona and Charlotte allows us to reach hundreds of thousands of fans with this critical message,” said Administrator Terry Cole. “Every conversation we start and every person we reach can help prevent fentanyl misuse and save lives. At DEA, we’re all gas, no brakes.”

“What we experienced in Texas reminded us why this partnership matters so deeply. The NASCAR community showed up – not just to watch a race, but to be part of a movement. Taking the No. 99 Fentanyl Free America Chevy to Daytona and Charlotte is a natural next step – and with two of NASCAR’s biggest stages ahead of us, we have an extraordinary opportunity to impact as many lives as possible with this message,” said Jeremy Lange, General Manager, Viking Motorsports. “We couldn’t be prouder to carry this mission forward, and we want every fan in those stands to walk away knowing the dangers of fentanyl.”

Since the launch of the Fentanyl Free America initiative in 2025, DEA has seized more than 32 million fentanyl pills and 12,300 pounds of fentanyl powder – an estimated 298 million potentially deadly doses removed from communities. The expanded efforts between DEA and NASCAR augments this enforcement work with a powerful prevention and awareness component, reaching a passionate national audience of race fans and families.

Parker Retzlaff, who will again be behind the wheel of the No. 99 Fentanyl Free America Chevrolet at both events, expressed his pride in being part of this important effort. “Driving the No. 99 at Texas was one of the most meaningful experiences of my career,” said Parker Retzlaff. “Knowing that the message on the car can genuinely save lives puts everything in perspective. I’m honored to take this cause to Daytona and Charlotte and to keep pushing for a Fentanyl Free America.”

The Fentanyl Free America initiative is DEA’s national campaign to protect communities, prevent fentanyl overdoses and poisonings, and support those impacted by synthetic opioids. For free resources and more information, visit Fentanyl Free America | DEA.gov.
