MIAMI – The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Caribbean Division reaffirmed its strong partnership with the Dominican Republic during a high-level strategic meeting held at DEA’s Miami Field Division headquarters, underscoring the continued commitment between U.S. and Dominican authorities to combat transnational criminal organizations operating throughout the Caribbean region.
The meeting brought together senior leadership from the DEA and the Dominican Republic’s "Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas (DNCD)", including DNCD President Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, DEA Caribbean Division Special Agent in Charge Michael C. Mayer, DEA Miami Field Division Special Agent in Charge Miles D. Aley, DEA Associate Chief of Operations for the Southeast Region Gregory M. Millard, DEA Associate Chief of Operations for the Northeast Region Frank A. Tarentino, and DEA Santo Domingo Acting Country Attache Richard J. Cernuda.
During the meeting, DEA Administrator Terrance Cole personally spoke with Vice Admiral Cabrera Ulloa and commended the Dominican government and President Luis Abinader for their leadership and continued commitment in the fight against narcotics trafficking and transnational organized crime throughout the Caribbean.
Administrator Cole reaffirmed the DEA’s unwavering support to the Dominican Republic in developing, coordinating, and executing innovative operational strategies aimed at dismantling drug trafficking organizations and disrupting criminal networks that threaten regional security and public safety.
The strategic discussions focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, enhancing operational coordination, and developing new enforcement tactics designed to identify, target, and dismantle the logistical and financial infrastructures of transnational criminal organizations operating across the Caribbean and the Western Hemisphere.
“DEA’s partnership with the DNCD remains one of the strongest and most effective international law enforcement relationships in the region,” said Michael C. Mayer. “The Dominican Republic continues to demonstrate extraordinary commitment and leadership in confronting transnational criminal organizations. Through real-time intelligence sharing, coordinated enforcement operations, and unwavering collaboration, we are aggressively targeting the criminal networks that threaten both of our nations.”
Associate Chief of Operations Gregory M. Millard highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing evolving criminal threats throughout the Caribbean corridor.
“Criminal organizations operate without borders, and our response must be equally unified and relentless,” said Millard. “The collaboration between the DEA, DNCD, and our international law enforcement partners continues to produce significant operational successes against narcotics traffickers, money laundering organizations, and transnational criminal enterprises. These partnerships are essential to protecting our communities and safeguarding regional stability.”
DEA officials also recognized the significant operational results achieved by Dominican authorities in recent years and emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral efforts aimed at dismantling criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, narcoterrorism, and other forms of organized crime.
The DEA Caribbean Division and the DNCD remain committed to expanding joint enforcement initiatives, strengthening regional security partnerships, and ensuring a coordinated response against criminal organizations operating throughout the Caribbean basin.
