Jae W. Chung
Special Agent in Charge Jae Chung graduated from Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, Alabama) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forensic Science in 1995. Mr. Chung has been with DEA for approximately 26 years and prior to beginning his career with DEA, he served in the U.S. Army as a Military Intelligence Officer.
Mr. Chung began his career with DEA in Los Angeles in 1999, and in 2006 he was transferred to the El Paso Intelligence Center – Global Tracking Unit. In October 2009, he began his tour at the Orlando District Office, and in December 2010 he was promoted to be the Group Supervisor of the Enforcement Group in Orlando; he was later re-assigned to form and lead the Tactical Diversion Squad in Orlando.
In April 2018 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and Internet Investigations Section at the Special Operations Division. In May 2020, Mr. Chung was transferred to the Atlanta Field Division as the ASAC of the HIDTA program. In January 2022, Mr. Chung was promoted to be the Deputy Chief of Operations for Domestic Operations at DEA-HQ, and in March 2023, Mr. Chung was transferred to the Atlanta Division as the Deputy Special Agent in Charge.
In January 2026, Mr. Chung was promoted to the position of Special Agent in Charge to lead the Atlanta Field Division.
