CHICAGO – Sheila G. Lyons, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Chicago Field Division, announced that Chania R. Logan, 27, Indianapolis, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the intent to Deliver and Controlled Substances Trafficking by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on June 5, 2024.

Judge William N. Fahy ordered Logan to be placed on electronic monitoring.

On June 4, several DEA Chicago Division enforcement personnel intercepted luggage belonging to Logan and another individual with whom Logan traveled to Chicago Midway International Airport from Los Angeles. Additional law enforcement personnel intercepted Logan and the second individual upon arrival at the airport baggage claim area. Logan granted a consensual search of her luggage, which resulted in the seizure of approximately 31 pounds of suspect cocaine.

At the same time, agents approached and attempted to speak with the second individual. After identifying themselves as law enforcement, the individual ran away, abandoning his two checked bags. The four pieces of seized luggage contained a total of 61.7 pounds of cocaine.

The case was investigated by the DEA Chicago Field Division, with substantial assistance from the Chicago Police Department, Illinois State Police, Bartlett Police Department, Westmont Police Department, Glen Ellyn Police Department, Amtrak Police, and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

The public is reminded that an indictment contains only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
