CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The U.S. Attorney's Office announced that Jimmy L. Hudson, Jr., 47, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, has been sentenced to serve 14 years and seven months in federal prison for distribution of fentanyl. 

At his guilty plea hearing last year, Hudson admitted that he sold a quantity of fentanyl to an individual in Cape Girardeau in April 2023. Unbeknownst to Hudson at the time, the individual purchasing the fentanyl was working as an informant for the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. According to court documents, this latest case represents Hudson’s third federal drug trafficking conviction.

At the time he sold the fentanyl, Hudson was on federal supervised release stemming from a 2015 conviction for distributing methamphetamine. After serving the nearly 15-year sentence, Hudson will once again be placed on supervised release.
