DEA to host summit on Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in Charleston, WV

Louisville, Ky. – The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the State of West Virginia are hosting a discussion on Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in Charleston, West Virginia on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The event will take place at the University of Charleston’s Riggleman Hall, 2300 MacCorkle Ave SE, Charleston, WV 25396.

This summit is designed to raise awareness of the increasing number of patients that require treatment for opioid use disorder, provide federal regulations, and resources available in West Virginia. Among the topics being discussed by representatives from DEA, the United States Attorney’s Office, and other federal and state agencies are improving access to buprenorphine; Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how it relates to MOUD; Treating Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and Combatting Stigma; and the Opioid Response Program (ORRP).

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned & implemented by Drug Enforcement Administration-Louisville Division, State of WV & CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine. CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), & the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The event is free to attend, but registration is required.  Anyone with questions about the event and those interested in attending should send an e-mail to LouisvilleDiversionOutreach@dea.gov.  Attendees will be responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and meal expenses.
