LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville DEA agents, working with the Jeffersontown Police Department, intercepted 30 kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of Fentanyl on July 10, 2022.  Officials said that the drugs were intended to be distributed in and around the greater Louisville area and eastern Kentucky.  The announcement comes from J. Todd Scott, Special Agent in Charge of DEA’s Louisville Division and Jeffersontown Police Chief Rick Sanders.

“This investigation illustrates the dangers that cities like Louisville are facing today,” Scott said.  “That one brick of Fentanyl that we seized is enough to kill about a half million people… nearly half of our city”

“The Jeffersontown Police Department is committed to working with our state, local and federal partners in aggressively investigating, identifying and arresting those responsible for bringing large quantities of illicit drugs into our communities,” Sanders said.

Two Texas men were arrested without incident by law enforcement personnel in conjunction with the drug seizure.  Roberto Soto-Mora, and Hector Manuel Soto-Alvarez are both charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl.

The arrests and seizure mark the culmination of a drug investigation dating back to August, 2019.  During the course of this investigation, investigators from the DEA, Jeffersontown Police Department, LMPD, and other state and local agencies have seized:  89.063 kilograms of cocaine, 156 grams of crack cocaine; 42 grams of heroin, 1.159 kilograms of Fentanyl, three vehicles, and more than $2.4 million dollars in cash.
