BOSTON – A Lawrence man was sentenced yesterday in federal court in Boston for drug trafficking charges involving fentanyl.

Fabio Yunior Moreta Borge, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns to 57 months in prison and two years of supervised release. On Oct. 7, 2021, Moreta Borge pleaded guilty to three counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

Over several months in 2019 and 2020, Moreta Borge sold fentanyl to a cooperating witness. On each occasion, the cooperating witness ordered bulk quantities of fentanyl from Moreta Borge in recorded phone calls. Moreta Borge then met with the cooperating witness in various locations around Lawrence to complete the deals. In total, Moreta Borge distributed over 800 grams of fentanyl.

United States Attorney Rachael S. Rollins and Brian D. Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Division made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Philip C. Cheng of Rollins’ Organized Crime and Gang Unit prosecuted the case.
