Suburban Chicago Man Arrested After Pill Press and Fentanyl Seized from Residence
CHICAGO — Robert Bell, Special Agent in Charge of Drug Enforcement Administration-Chicago Division, and U.S. Attorney John Lausch, Jr., of the Northern District of Illinois announced the arrest of a man on a federal drug charge after law enforcement seized fentanyl and a “pill press” in his suburban Chicago residence.
A complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago charges Troy Clark, 51, of Calumet City, Illinois, with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Law enforcement this week conducted a court-authorized search of Clark’s residence in Calumet City and discovered distribution quantities of fentanyl, as well as equipment that can be used to manufacture counterfeit pills, including a pill press, funnel, metal press, and dye pieces, the complaint states.
Clark was arrested Tuesday. A detention hearing in federal court is scheduled for Feb. 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez.
The complaint and arrest were also announced by William Hedrick, Inspector-in-Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Chicago; and David Brown, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department. The Calumet City Police Department provided valuable assistance. The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Beth E. Palmer.
The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
