HOUSTON – The Drug Enforcement Administration has selected Daniel C. Comeaux as Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the DEA Houston Division, which includes 12 offices spanning 118,000 square miles across South, Central, and East Texas, 645 miles of U.S./Mexico border, and is home to a population of over 16 million. Comeaux will oversee and further advance an array of investigative and enforcement priorities targeting transnational criminal organizations, violent gangs, counterfeit pills, illicit diversion of legitimate pharmaceuticals, and other dangerous drugs.

“SAC Comeaux brings a wealth of experience that will greatly benefit the communities and neighborhoods in the Houston division,” said DEA Acting Administrator D. Christopher Evans. “He has a strong connection with the City of Houston where he served as a member of the Houston Police Department before joining DEA, and will lead with the highest standards, continuing DEA’s critical mission in Texas.”

Prior to his selection, Comeaux served as SAC of the San Francisco Division, where he oversaw all enforcement operations, drug diversion, regulatory investigations and administration operations from Bakersfield to the Oregon Border. Additionally, throughout his DEA career, Comeaux has held leadership positions in the Tucson District Office, Gulfport Resident Office, DEA Headquarters, Jackson District Office and the Los Angeles Field Division.

While serving as a Group Supervisor in Tucson, Comeaux propelled his group to exceptional enforcement accomplishments recognized by the Executive Office of the President for outstanding achievements, and significant contributions to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program by the Office of National Drug Control Policy in Washington D.C. While serving as the Resident Agent in Charge of the Gulfport Office, Comeaux concentrated on multifaceted enforcement operations targeting transnational criminal organizations with domestic ties.  Moreover, as the Associate Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Division, Comeaux oversaw more than 250 personnel and served as the primary advisor to the SAC on matters pertaining to complex DEA law enforcement and regulatory operations in California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, and Saipan.

“I will continue to advocate for drug-free communities in South, Central, and East Texas, using all available resources, including law enforcement, education, and community outreach,” said Comeaux. “I’m committed to fighting the scourge of illicit drugs like methamphetamine and fentanyl, which are responsible for ravaging neighborhoods and destroying lives.”

Comeaux is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and graduated from the University of Houston. Prior to joining DEA in 1997, Comeaux was a police officer with the City of Houston Police Department from 1991 to 1997.

Comeaux selection is effective immediately
