DEA and Mural Arts Philadelphia Collaborate on Public Arts Project as Part of 360 Strategy
On September 11, 2018, ASAC Shawn R. Ellerman, represented the Philadelphia Division at the dedication of “Resilience,” a mural in the city of Philadelphia. ASAC Ellerman was joined by members of the Mural Arts Philadelphia program and several other city officials.
As he addressed the event attendees, ASAC Ellerman expressed the importance of engaging in non-traditional partnerships, particularly as part of the Philadelphia Division’s overall 360 Strategy program. DEA launched several 360 Strategy initiatives throughout the country to help address the nation’s opioid crisis.
Artist Parris Stancell, a veteran of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and “Resilience” creator, has worked with the Mural Arts program since 1991. Mural Arts Philadelphia is the nation’s largest public arts program, designed to transform public spaces and individual lives. Founded in 1986, the Mural Arts program created more than 3,800 pieces of art across Philadelphia.
Visitors to the city will find “Resilience” in the Kensington section of Philadelphia at the intersection of Allegheny Avenue and Emerald Street.
