Two
New York Individuals Indicted for Marijuana Distribution
June
W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement
Administration in New England and Kevin J. O'Connor, United States
Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that a federal
grand jury sitting in Bridgeport returned an indictment today charging
GEORGE WILSON, age 33, of 459 Parkway Drive, Elmont, New York, and
CAROL WILLIAMS, also known as "CeCe," age 31, of 17833 178th
Avenue, Queens, New York, with possessing with the intent to distribute
a mixture or substance containing marijuana on June 3, 2005.
If convicted, WILSON
faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years and a fine of up
to $500,000, and WILLIAMS faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five
years and a fine of up to $250,000. United States Attorney O'Connor
stressed that an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of
guilt. The defendants are entitled to a fair trial at which it is the
Government's burden to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
