Revere
Man Sentenced to Over 5 Years in Federal Prison
for Drug Trafficking
Boston, MA... A resident of
Revere was sentenced Tuesday, March 23, 2004, in federal court for
participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine in the Revere-
Malden area.
Mark R. Trouville,
Special Agent in Charge of the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration
in New England and United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan announced that
ANTHONY J. CARRILLO, age 53, formerly residing in the Sea View Towers located
at 510- 515 Revere Beach Boulevard, Revere, was sentenced by Senior U. S. District
Judge Morris E. Lasker to 5 years and 3 months’ imprisonment, to be followed
by 4 years of supervised release.
CARRILLO pleaded
guilty on December 12, 2002 to a federal indictment charging him with
conspiracy to distribute cocaine, as well as with several counts of
distribution of cocaine.
At the earlier plea
hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that, had the case proceeded
to trial, the Government’s evidence would have proven that CARRILLO
and his brother, Salvatore “Rudy” Carrillo controlled a cocaine distribution
ring that was responsible for daily sales of cocaine to numerous customers in
the areas of Revere, East Boston, and Malden. The ring included CARRILLO’s
nephew, Jason Carrillo, as well as Jason Carrillo’s girlfriend, Jill Parker.
On numerous occasions from January 2001 to February 2003, CARRILLO and/ or his
brother sold quantities of cocaine to a cooperating witness who was working with
the DEA.
The government also
presented evidence that CARRILLO used his income from drug sales to
finance his lavish lifestyle, including the purchase of a
Mercedes Benz, two Cadillacs, vacation trips to Florida and elsewhere,
and two condominiums
at the Sea View Towers on Revere Beach. The net proceeds from the sale
of one
of the condominiums is being forfeited to the government. CARRILLO also
used drug proceeds to start up and operate a pool hall business, known
at various
times as Miss Cue Billiards or Miss Q2 Billiards, located on Broadway
in Malden. In February 2003, CARRILLO and his brother were arrested
inside
their pool
hall
business, four other defendants were arrested, and five federal search
warrants were executed at CARRILLO’s condominium and other locations in Revere,
Malden, and Lynn.
CARRILLO was held
in federal custody without bail after his arrest.
Earlier this year,
another defendant, Luis Fernando Macias- Villa, was sentenced to 6 ½ years’ imprisonment and Jill Parker was sentenced to time
served and 3 years of supervised release. Three other defendants, Salvatore “Rudy” Carrillo,
Jason Carrillo, and Edward Portalla, are scheduled to go to trial in April.
The case was investigated
by the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration in cooperation with the
Revere Police Department.
