Long-Time Miami Drug Fugitive Apprehended in Colombia

On September 2, 2003, long-time Miami Field Division fugitive Alex DeCUBAS was apprehended in Medellin, Colombia. DeCUBAS was declared a fugitive in 1991. DeCUBAS is presently in the custody of the Colombian National Police and will be extradited to the United States. It is anticipated that DeCUBAS will be prosecuted in the Southern District of Florida for cocaine conspiracy.

Mr. Raffanello commended the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the United States Attorney;s Office. The case is being prosecuted by HIDTA Assistant United States Attorney Cristina Maxwell.
