SAC Gilbride Addresses Commanders Club of Michigan
On Veterans Day 2004, Special Agent in Charge John P. Gilbride of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Detroit Field Division was the keynote speaker at the Commanders Club of Michigan annual Veterans Day celebration. The Commanders Club of Michigan was formed in 1962 by then Michigan Governor John Swainson. The Commanders Club is comprised of members of the Michigan business community as well as state government. Many of the Michigan Commanders Club members are retired U.S. Navy personnel. The mission of the club is to promote the interests of the State of Michigan, specifically water safety, recreation and marine oriented organizations. They are also prominent in the support of the Michigan Naval Sea Cadets program.
SAC Gilbride provided the group with an overview of DEA operations in Michigan and the nation as well as a synopsis of the current drug trafficking drug trafficking situation throughout the Midwest. SAC Gilbride thanked the retired servicemen for their selfless service to the citizens of the United States.
