On Monday October 25, 2004, the Coalition for a Drug Free Greater Cincinnati and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Detroit Field Division co-sponsored the Red Ribbon Week Kick-off Celebration on Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati.

Congressman Rob Portman, DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Gary Oetjen, DEA Demand Reduction Coordinator Rich Isaacson and Prevention Specialist Shondalyn Lagdemeo of the Coalition for a Drug Free Greater Cincinnati all participated in the event. The students were reminded of the ultimate sacrifice made by DEA Special Agent Enrique Camarena and congratulated for their pledge to lead a drug free life.

Elementary and Middle School students from across southwestern Ohio participated in an anti-drug, Red Ribbon Week Poster contest, and the winners of the contest were announced and congratulated by Congressman Portman and DEA ASAC Oetjen.
