Police Department and DEA Unite to Seize
Over $300,000 In Drug Money
NOV 5--Cincinnati, OH- Recent enforcement operations conducted between the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Cincinnati office have put drug traffickers on notice that their joint law enforcement efforts will have a significant impact on criminal activity in the greater Cincinnati area. DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge Gary Oetjen announced that the two agencies had dismantled a major cocaine trafficking operation that was responsible for distributing cocaine in the Cincinnati area.
On September 22, 2003, officers of the Cincinnati Police Department and DEA agents received a tip that traffickers were operating from a residence located on the eastside of Cincinnati. Acting on this tip, officers and agents developed additional information, which led to action being taken at a local home and occupied vehicle. This action resulted in the seizure of $322,375.00 in cash and an extensive amount of cocaine wrappers and packaging materials being seized. Numerous people were detained and criminal charges are expected at a later date.
"This seizure is another example of the impact that we as law enforcement can have when we create partnerships that benefit the people of Cincinnati. Without the expertise and local intelligence of the Cincinnati Police Department, this seizure would not have been possible. These were major players from outside our area that are now out of business," said Gary Oetjen, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Cincinnati.
