Detroit SAC Mike Braun And Montel Williams Join Forces Against Methamphetamine
Detroit,
Michigan- On February 10, 2003, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Detroit office and Detroit's Fox television affiliate presented an hour-long
special on methamphetamine hosted by Montel Williams and local anchorwoman
Lucy Noland. This special was a compelling look at the devastation caused
by methamphetamine not only from the law enforcement perspective, but also
recovering methamphetamine addicts themselves. High school students from
the Detroit metropolitan area were on hand as the studio audience to explain
their observations and their lack of understanding concerning the dangers
of methamphetamine.
During the show, SAC Braun was interviewed regarding the current methamphetamine situation in the Michigan area and the efforts being taken by DEA to slow the spread of methamphetamine. The DEA Detroit was able to showcase the Division's clandestine laboratory response vehicle and its capabilities. SAC Braun was joined on the show by Michigan State Police D/Lt. Tony Saucedo, thereby demonstrating the strong partnership between DEA and the Michigan State Police. SAC Braun also highlighted the current problem of illegal pseudoephedrine trafficking from Canada into the United States through the Detroit border crossings.
