Officer “Angus” Sniffs
Out Multi-Million Dollar Stash
Of Marijuana
On October 28, 2004 San Diego Police Department (SDPD) K-9 Officer “Angus” ( a 3 year old Labrador Retriever) and his partner, an SDPD Detective and veteran member of DEA’s Narcotic Task Force (NTF), responded to a call of suspicious activity at a vacant warehouse located at 9870 Marconi Drive, “F”, San Diego, CA, just hundreds of yards north of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. “Angus”, a trained drug detection dog, quickly smelled something was amiss and alerted to his partner that drugs were present.
What was not known was just how much was inside.
The owner of the warehouse property was located and willingly opened
up the site, stating that, to his knowledge, the place was vacant and
empty. To the delight of Officer “Angus”, and the owner’s
shock, discovered inside were approximately 11, 500 pounds of marijuana;
the single largest seizure of marijuana by the San Diego County Integrated
Narcotic Task Force (NTF) to date.
The owner of the warehouse was determined at this time not to be a suspect in the investigation.
No arrests have been made.
The marijuana has a local street value of approximately $3,450,000.00.
NOTE: B-roll video of the seizure is available upon request.
