On October 28, 2003, a Press Conference was held at Harry's Roadhouse in Asbury Park, New Jersey, the DEA Newark Division, 180, Turning Lives Around and the New Jersey State Police gathered to unveil a new public campaign. The "Keep An Eye On Your Drink" campaign is a partnership between responsible club and bar owners, DEA, 180, and the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) to help women and men learn about date rape/predatory drugs and how to keep a drink from being drugged. As part of the public awareness effort, thousands of napkins and hundreds of posters were distributed to participating clubs and bars.
The campaign giveaway white napkin includes a blue cocktail glass designed filled with ice and a beverage. The text reads: Do You Know Where You Are Going to Wake UP Tomorrow? "Keep An Eye On Your Drink". 180, Sexual Assault Hotline 1-888-264-RAPE. The logos of the DEA and NJSP Victim Services Unit are also included. A poster of the graphic and text will also be distributed for placement in club and bar restrooms.
The press conference featured comments from DEA Newark Division Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Michael Pasterchick, Jr., Executive Director Anna M. Diaz-White, 180, Turning Lives Around, and Deputy Superintendent Thomas DeFeo, New Jersey State Police. SAC Pasterchick stated, "It's collaborations like this that foster partnerships in order for awareness and prevention programs to be successful."
