Hispanic Heritage Month

OCT 31-- On October 14th, the New Orleans Divisional Office celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by remembering and honoring the late Jose Angel-Vasquez, a local restaurant owner and friend of DEA. The office also presented an award to Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office Deputy Hector Nieves, currently assigned to the Traffic Division. Both individuals are considered heroes in the local Hispanic community in metropolitan New Orleans.

The celebration also commemorated the beginning of "RED RIBBON WEEK" and the acknowledgement of SA Enrique "KIKI" Camarena and his contribution and ultimate sacrifice to better the lives of all Americans.

During the ceremony Deputy Nieves and the spouse of the late Mr. Vasquez, Mrs. Kimberly Share-Vasquez each received plaques from SAC James D. Craig commemorating the event. Deputy Nieves provided a rendition of the National Anthem. Also in attendance were the father of Mr. Jose Vasquez, Mr. Jose Estevan Vasquez and his sister Mrs. Ada Vasquez Bruhl.
