KAPOW Tour of MFD

SAC Raffanello handing out badges to the childrenMAY 2--Approximately 200 fifth grade students, from a Miami-area elementary school, toured the Miami Field Divisional Office. The students are all participants in the MFD's Demand Reduction program called KAPOW - Kids and the Power of Work. MFD special agents are assigned a classroom and thoroughout the year they provide a mentoring curriculum that addresses work-related concepts and experiences. Through a professionally designed curriculum and a worksite visit, elementary students learn and practice workplace skills and make strong connections between school and work. While at MFD, the students were provided presentations from the Southeast Regional Lab, Diversion, Intelligence and the Airwing. Students were also given demonstrations in fingerprint procedures and K-9 techniques.
