MUSKOGEE,
OKLAHOMA - United States Attorney Sheldon J. (Shelly) Sperling announced
today that the United States Grand Jury for the Eastern District of
Oklahoma, meeting at Muskogee, returned an indictment against JESUS
BRINOES RIVERA a/k/a Jesus Rivera Briones a/k/a Jesus Rivera a/k/a
Jesus Briones a/k/a Ricardo Garcia-Anguiano, age 32, a citizen of Mexico.
The defendant was charged in a two-count Indictment by the Grand Jury alleging
possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
RIVERA faces a maximum punishment of imprisonment of not less than 5 years
and/or a fine of up to $4,000,000.00 on each count charged.
The charges arise from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration
and the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office involving the delivery of methamphetamine
in excess of 100 grams.
A grand jury Indictment does not constitute evidence of guilt. A grand jury
Indictment is a method of bringing formal charges against the defendant. A
defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and may not be found guilty unless
evidence establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
