Christmas tree graphicOperation Shining Star Brings Holiday Cheer Chicago-area Children as Santa Claus teams up with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other law enforcement agencies to deliver toys to kids at area hospitals and youth facilities.

The Shining Star Program was initiated by the United States Secret Service in 1999 and brings the joy of the season to almost 1,000 children a year in the Chicago area. The Secret Service continues this fine tradition for the fourth year, along with fourteen other federal, state, and city law enforcement agencies participating, including DEA Chicago and the Chicago Police Department.

The event will begin at Chicago Police Headquarters with a tree trimming and memorial service. Santa and Mrs. Claus will then deliver gifts to the kids and proceed to several other locations via presidential-style motorcade to deliver more toys to area children.
