DEA CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE
United States Attorney H.S. Garcia To Be Guest Speaker

Each year, September 15 through 15 is designated as National Hispanic Heritage Month. The Hispanic population in the United States is a richly diverse mosaic of individuals from many different nationality groups, both new immigrants and people whose roots in the United States predate Columbus. Today, Hispanic culture continues to shape the American experience. Hispanics contribute to every walk of life, while simultaneously preserving unique customs and traditions of their ancestors. All Americans, regardless of national origin, celebrate the vibrant Hispanic American spirit that influences our Nation's art, music, food, and faiths. Hispanics have assimilated into all aspects of America life, culturally, politically, and economically.

Let's take this time to reflect on the many contributions made by Hispanic Americans to our country's development and prosperity. Hispanics Americans continue to demonstrate leadership and excellence in virtually every aspect of our society.

On November 1, 2002, the DEA Caribbean Field Division will hold its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Activity. DEA Special Agent in Charge Jerome Harris invites all members of the news media to cover this activity. Our featured guest speaker will be the Honorable H.S. Garcia, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico.
