DEA Celebrates Black History Month
The Honorable Iver A. Stridiron, U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General, To Be Guest Speaker

Each February we observe National Black History Month in recognition of the remarkable achievements of black Americans and the many contributions they have made to our nation's heritage. The national theme for this year's celebration is "The Souls of Black Folk: Centennial Reflections".

On February 21, 2003, the DEA Caribbean Field Division will hold its annual Black History Month Activity. Our featured guest speaker will be the Honorable Iver A. Stridiron, the Attorney General of the United States Virgin Islands.

Attorney General Stridiron is a native of St. Thomas and a product of the U.S. Virgin Islands school system. After graduating from the Charlotte Amalie High School in 1964, he attended the Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, graduating in 1969. He earned his law degree from the Howard University School of Law in 1974. He established his law practice in St. Thomas in 1977 and continued a successful law career through 1999, when the Governor of the Virgin Islands appointed him as the U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General. AG Stridiron also served three terms as a Senator in the Legislature of the Virgin Islands, from 1981 to 1989, and served as the President of the Senate. During 2001 He was the Chairperson of the Puerto Rico-U.S. Virgin Islands High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Executive Committee.
