Springfield Resident Sentenced on Narcotics and Firearms Charges
Springfield, MA... A Springfield man was sentenced Monday, September 27, 2004, in federal court on narcotics and firearms charges.
Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge of the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration in New England and United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan and, announced that CARLOS PIZARRO, age 36, of Springfield, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor to 180 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release. On April 29, 2004, PIZARRO pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, cocaine base, and heroin; possession with intent to distribute cocaine; and use of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
At the earlier plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that, had the case proceeded to trial, the Government’s evidence would have proven that PIZARRO participated in a conspiracy to operate a crack house located at 149 Cedar Street where over 1.5 kilograms of crack were distributed over a six month period. In addition, a federal search warrant was executed at PIZARRO’s residence in February 2003, where a .44 caliber Ruger revolver and ammunition where seized along with over a kilogram of powder cocaine.
The case was investigated by the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Springfield Task Force.
