Nampa
Man Sentenced to 96 Months for Distributing
Methamphetamine
JUN
28 -- (Idaho) - Omar Salinas
Zamudio, 30, of Nampa, was sentenced
today to 96 months in federal prison
for distributing methamphetamine and
unlawful possession of a firearm. Zamudio
was also ordered to serve five years
of supervised release following his prison
term. Zamudio pleaded guilty to the charges
on February 23, 2010.
In
July 2009, the Drug Enforcement Administration
and the Nampa Police Department initiated
the investigation after receiving information
that Zamudio was selling methamphetamine.
Between August 23 and October 27, Zamudio
sold methamphetamine to law enforcement
on six occasions. On November 10, 2009,
law enforcement served a search warrant
at Zamudio’s residence and located
approximately ¾ of a pound of methamphetamine,
a firearm, and over $30,000 in cash.
Zamudio
later admitted to selling approximately
one pound of methamphetamine a month as
his sole source of income. Zamudio had
previously been convicted of a felony offense
and was prohibited from possessing firearms. |
