In
honor of Red Ribbon Week, Rodney G. Benson, Special Agent in Charge,
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Seattle Field Division, will
welcome Myrna Camarena-Covarrubias to the Pacific Northwest from October
19-20, 2006. Ms. Camarena-Covarrubias will speak in Bonney Lake, Washington,
and Boise, Idaho, on the 21st Anniversary of the Red Ribbon Campaign.
This year’s events will take a look back at the death of DEA
Special Agent Enrique Camarena and will focus on the positive impact
this tragic event has had on so many young people in America.
Red
Ribbon Week began as a tribute to Special Agent Camarena and has grown
into a national event, which has become a catalyst to show intolerance
for drugs in our schools, work places, and communities. Each year,
during the last week in October, more than 80 million young people
and adults show their commitment to a healthy, drug-free life by wearing
or displaying the Red Ribbon.
Ms.
Camarena-Covarrubias will speak for approximately one hour and will
be available to answer questions immediately following her presentations.
