National
City Motel Raided
October
11, 2006 – Yesterday morning agents and officers from the DEA
Narcotic Task Force and the National City Police Department arrested
eight individuals at the Park Motel, 1420 National City Boulevard,
National City. The arrests, coupled with five related arrests which
occurred last week, reflect a total of thirteen arrests associated
with narcotic trafficking at this location.
Assistant
Special Agent in Charge William Sherman stated, “This location
came to our attention through numerous neighborhood complaints. There
will be no tolerance for drug activity anywhere in San Diego and its
surrounding communities – motels should provide a safe environment
for travelers, not a haven for traffickers.”
National City Police
Captain Manuel Rodriguez noted, “The collaboration between the
Narcotic Task Force and the National City Police Department continues
to have a positive impact on the quality of life for the citizens of
our community.”
The subjects arrested
face a variety of charges ranging from drug sales to possession of
a stolen motor vehicle. Several of the subjects had outstanding drug-related
warrants and one individual was wanted for a drug-related parole violation.
During the course of this investigation law enforcement observed ongoing
drug trafficking on the property, including brazen transactions in
the parking lot in view of other tenants and the rental office. Additionally,
four children were placed into the custody of Child Protective Services
after they were found living in squalor in a residence being utilized
by one of the individuals identified as one source of supply for the
motel’s residents. The home contained almost $20,000 which was
seized as drug trafficking proceeds.
The investigation
is being prosecuted by The District Attorney’s Office Narcotics
Division.
