Federal
Grand Jury Indictment for Violation of
the Federal Controlled Substances Act
JUN
17 -- (New Orleans, Louisiana)
- George Reed, Jr., age 44, a resident
of Jefferson, Louisiana, was charged today
in a three count indictment by a Federal
Grand Jury for possession with the intent
to distribute five (5) grams or more of
cocaine base (crack), announced U. S. Attorney
Jim Letten.
According
to the indictment, REED distributed crack
cocaine on March 5, March 10 and March 30,
2010. If convicted, REED faces a possible
maximum sentence of forty (40) years imprisonment,
a $2 million fine, and four (4) years of
supervised release as to each count.
U.
S. Attorney Jim Letten reiterated that the
indictment is merely a charge and that the
guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond
a reasonable doubt.
The
case was investigated by Special Agents with
the Drug Enforcement Administration. The
case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.
S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy. |
