New Jersey Division Dismantles Clan Lab
One Arrested along with Meth Lab seized in Manahawkin,
NJ

2 -- NEWARK - Gerard P. McAleer, Special Agent in Charge
of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New Jersey Division
and Thomas B. Conroy, Chief of Police, Stafford Township, New Jersey,
announced today that the DEA New Jersey Division’s, Atlantic
City Residence Office seized a Methamphetamine Lab and arrested one
defendant at the location of 358 Deer Lake Court, Manahawkin, New
Jersey.
After
a year-long investigation, the DEA executed a federal search warrant
and arrested one defendant at the residence. Arrested at the location
without incident was the owner of the home, Marc Friedman. Seized at
the residence, at the rear detached garage were the following: methamphetamine,
glass ware, household chemicals, filters, heating plates, 55 gallon
drum than contained waste products, and various items that serve to
facilitate a clandestine meth lab.
“DEA
New Jersey Division is committed to protecting all of the citizens
of New Jersey against all those who pollute our communities with this
toxic and dangerous drug methamphetamine and its by-products that could
harm our children, environment, and our partners in law enforcement
and first responders,” McAleer said.
Assisting
in the investigation was the Stafford Township Police Department, Ocean
County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police, and the
US Postal Inspection Service.
The
investigation is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office
for the District of New Jersey headed by United States Attorney Christopher
J. Christie. Patrick Askin is the Assistant United States Attorney
who will represent the Government. The initial appearance will be at
approximately 4:00 pm, this afternoon in Trenton at the United States
District Court, District of New Jersey, in front of a United States
Magistrate Judge.
The
Federal Complaint charges the defendant with manufacturing of methamphetamine
Schedule II narcotic. If convicted of the above charge, the defendant
faces a statutory maximum penalty of 40 years in Federal Prison and
$2,000,000 fine.
