Release Alpine Resident Office participates in National Take Back Initiative SEP 24 -- ALPINE-TX, Joseph M. Arabit, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration–El Paso Division announced that On September 25, 2010, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will sponsor “National Take Back Day” in coordination with local law enforcement agencies and community partners to provide an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unneeded pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction. Removing these potentially dangerous drugs from our homes not only reduces risks to public health and safety, but participation in this one-day event also helps bring national attention to the increasing problem of pharmaceutical abuse in the United States. Collections will take place between 10 am and 2 pm at sites established throughout the country. In Pecos County, the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office and the Ft. Stockton Police Department have offered DEA their assistance and are supporting a collection site at the Ft. Stockton Police Department.
