York Couple Convicted of Conspiracy To
Distribute Heroin In Kentucky

17 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - United
States Attorney David J. Hale announced
today that a federal jury in Louisville,
after a two-day trial, convicted Adam Saeed-Watara,
age 39, of New York, New York, of conspiracy
to distribute approximately 2.5 kilograms
of heroin in the Louisville area. Co-defendant
Irene Dunuh, age 25, also of New York,
New York, entered a guilty plea the day
before trial.
The
Indictment charged that on July 9, 2009,
in Jefferson County, in the Western District
of Kentucky, the defendants conspired to
knowingly and intentionally distribute and
possess with intent to distribute 2.5 kilograms
of heroin. The penalty for the offense is
a term of imprisonment for ten years to life,
a fine of not more than $2,000,000, or both,
and a term of supervised release following
imprisonment for at least five years.
The
case was prosecuted by Assistant United States
Attorney Larry Fentress and was investigated
by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration
(DEA).
The
defendants will be sentenced on August 19,
2010, at 11:00 a.m. in Louisville, Kentucky.
