St. Croix Announces 2006 Red Ribbon Week Coloring Contest Winners
NOV 3 --
ST. CROIX, United States Virgin Islands – Jerome M. Harris, Special
Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Caribbean Division (CD) today announced the winners of the 2nd Annual
DEA St. Croix Red Ribbon Week Coloring Contest. The DEA St. Croix Resident
Office started a tradition last year by holding a coloring contest
for children living in the island of St. Croix, United Sates Virgin
Islands to make them aware of the dangers of drug use and the history
of the Red Ribbon Week.
“I’ll
like to thank the fine panel of judges for their time devoted to this
very important initiative” said DEA Caribbean Division’s
SAC Jerome Harris. “Everyone is a winner when young children,
school and their parents are involved in such a positive educational
and prevention activity. I encourage more parents to get their children
involved in this contest next year” stated DEA SAC Harris.
This year the contest
was a huge success. The theme this year was “Sailing through
Life Drug Free”. In addition, the children where asked to incorporate
a Red Ribbon somewhere in the picture. Children on St. Croix were asked
to color a piece of regular copy paper based on this theme and were
judged for creativity, artistic ability, and the use of the red ribbon.
Each picture is screened by a panel of judges who rates the pictures
