Middletown
Man
Sentenced
To
Five
Years
in
Federal
Prison
for
Dealing
Crack

Attorney
for
the
District
of Connecticut,
announced
that
REGINALD
LEWIS,
age
29,
of Hillside
Avenue,
Middletown,
Connecticut,
was
sentenced
today
by Senior
United
States
District
Judge
Peter
C. Dorsey
in New
Haven
to 60
months
of imprisonment,
followed
by four
years
of supervised
release,
for
conspiring
to possess
with
the
intent
to distribute
five
grams
or more
of cocaine
base
(“crack
cocaine”).
LEWIS
pleaded
guilty
to the
charge
on February
13,
2007.
On
October
4, 2006,
a federal
grand
jury returned
an Indictment
charging
LEWIS
and several
other
individuals
with various
narcotics
offenses
involving
the distribution
of cocaine
and crack
cocaine
in Meriden,
Middletown
and other
towns.
The charges
against
LEWIS
stem from
intercepted
telephone
conversations
regarding
crack
cocaine
transactions,
as well
as a May
24, 2006,
state
arrest
of LEWIS
in Meriden,
during
which
the Meriden
police
seized
approximately
seven
grams
of crack
cocaine
from LEWIS.
LEWIS
was arrested
on federal
charges
on October
11, 2006,
and subsequently
was released
on bond.
However,
LEWIS
was remanded
into custody
on January
10, 2007,
after
he violated
the conditions
of his
bond,
and he
is currently
incarcerated.
This
investigation
was a
collaborative
effort
of the
Federal
Bureau
of Investigation,
the Drug
Enforcement
Administration,
and the
Meriden
Police
Department. |
