New
London Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Crack Charge

7 -- June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug
Enforcement Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor,
United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced
that TYRONE HENRY, also known as “Blondie,” age 32, of
615B Bank Street, New London, Connecticut, pleaded guilty today before
United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to one
count of an Indictment charging him with possession with intent to
distribute five grams or more of cocaine base (“crack” cocaine).
According
to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on
four occasions in February and March 2006, an individual cooperating
with law enforcement made several controlled purchases of crack cocaine
from HENRY. The purchases were surveilled by law enforcement and recorded
by the cooperating witness.
Judge
Thompson scheduled sentencing for June 27, 2007, at which time HENRY
faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years, a maximum
term of life and a fine of up to $4,000,000.
This
case has been investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration,
the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the New
London Police Department. |
