Crack Dealer Sentenced To More Than Three Years
JAN
31 -- June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the
Drug Enforcement Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor,
United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced
that EDWARD BILLIE, age 34, of 27 East Street, Hartford, was sentenced
today by Senior United States District Judge Alfred V. Covello in
Hartford to 37 months of imprisonment, followed by six years of supervised
release. On February 28, 2006, BILLIE waived indictment and pleaded
guilty to one count of possession with the intent to distribute a
detectable amount of cocaine base (“crack” cocaine).
On
January 5, 2006, BILLIE was arrested at his residence by law enforcement
officers working with the Drug Enforcement Administration after he
was found in possession of 3.5 grams of crack cocaine.
Following
today’s sentencing proceeding, BILLIE, who had been released
on bond, was remanded into custody to begin service of his sentence.
This
case was investigated by the Hartford resident office of the Drug Enforcement
Administration.
