New
London Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Crack Charge
NOV
29 -- June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the
Drug Enforcement Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor,
United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced
that JEREMIAH SIMONS, also known as “J,” age 18, of 58
Colman Street, New London, Connecticut, pleaded guilty today before
United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to possession
with intent to distribute, and distribution of, five grams or more
of cocaine base (“crack cocaine.”)
According
to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on
three occasions in February 2006, SIMONS distributed more than five
grams of crack cocaine to a cooperating witness.
Judge
Thompson has scheduled sentencing for February 16, 2007, at which time
SIMONS faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years,
a maximum term of 40 years, and a fine of up to $2,000,000.
This
case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the New London Police
Department. |
