East Hampton Woman Involved In Meth Production Sentenced To 18 Months In Federal Prison

JUL 5--June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that MICHELLE L. LANZI, age 37 (DOB 11/22/68), formerly of 138 Mott Hill Road, East Hampton, Connecticut, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to 18 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for her role in the operation of a methamphetamine lab at her home in East Hampton. On January 17, 2006, LANZI waived indictment and pleaded guilty to possession of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on June 8, 2005, LANZI was arrested at her residence when federal, state and local law enforcement agents arrived to execute a federal search warrant. LANZI admitted that, on that date, she knowingly possessed a quantity of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

As a condition of supervised release, Judge Arterton required LANZI to make restitution in the amount of $8244.75 to the Drug Enforcement Administration for costs associated in the clean up and disposal of the chemicals and hazardous waste at the East Hampton lab.

U.S. Attorney O’Connor recognized the cooperative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, East Hampton Police Department and Connecticut State Police who investigated this matter.
