DEA New Jersey Division Co-Hosts 5th Annual Prevention Conference
MAR 4--On Friday, March 04, 2005, the DEA- New Jersey Division Co-Hosted the 5th Annual Prevention Conference at the Ocean Shore Conference Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. The conference was a collaborative partnership with New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN), State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services, New Jersey State Police, New Jersey National Guard and Saint Barnabas Health Care System.
Over six hundred (600) attendees participated in this one day conference. The morning included a Keynote Speech from Dr. Lisa A. Marsch, from the National Development and Research Institutes, Ins. Dr. Marsch reviewed her recent research regarding adolescent heroin treatment. After the Keynote Speech, attendees went to a several different prevention and treatment workshops. DEA New Jersey presented Heroin: The Ride That Never Ends program that is available throughout all of New Jersey.
SAC Pasterchick presented the 3rd Anthony D. Cammarato award of excellence for outstanding dedication and commitment in the field of prevention to Mr. Ronald Susswein. Mr. Susswein is employed with the State of New Jersey, Office of the Attorney General and serves as a Deputy Director of Major Crimes, Prevention Services, Division of Criminal Justice.
Further, SAC Pasterchick spoke in memory of SAC Anthony D. Cammarato, “On January 08, 2003, after a battle with cancer we at the DEA, New Jersey lost a true leader. SAC Cammarato lived for the job and committed every resource in fighting for a cause that he truly believed in. That’s why it is very important to continue his commitment in drug law enforcement, to include our education and prevention programs”.
