Feb 22 -- Each year the Hispanic services give all their energy to motivate students we serve to put their best effort in to making a difference not only in their lives but in others as well. For this we decided to work on a drawing contest to remember Enrique Camarena during Red Ribbon week where adolescents would express their thoughts and ideas in to paper in a creative manner. The participants were students from West Jefferson high school, J.D. Meisler Middle School, Marshall Elementary and Gretna Junior High. The first place went to 12 year old Marien Loaiza form J.D. Meisler Middle School, the second place also a student from the same school a 11 year old José Carlos Reynoso, and the third place a 16 year old Anthony Perez from West Jefferson High School. The incentives for the winners were gift certificates to shop at the nearest mall to their home.
